– Speaking during a visit of USS Sterett guided-missile destroyer to Zhanjiang, Guangdong province (China), US Pacific Fleet Commander Admiral Scott Swift (June 15) said the naval vessels would increase their stay in the South China Sea this year to 900 days compared to an average of around 700 days annually.<\/p>\n

– In talks with Singaporean Foreign Minister Balakrishnan, who was visiting China (June 11-12), Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Qun suggested that China and ASEAN Member States should discuss the contents of the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea at the appropriate time.<\/p>\n

– On June 11, Guangdong’s marine geological survey agency (China) declared that ice-burning test operations in the South China Sea had succeeded and considered to expand operations. The exploited output in one month of trial reached 6,800m3 <\/sup>per day with a total output of about 210,000 m3<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

– On June 10, Reuters cited the information on Chinese defense ministry’s social network that China would continue to remain vigilant and monitor US military operations in the South China Sea.<\/p>\n
